*I wrote this song about a year ago, but haven’t performed it much. We’ll be adding it to our set lists from now on.*
He’s got a beer, he’s got a guitar
He’s writing songs he hopes will take him really far.
And he’s never been gone from home.
But he’s read to hit the road.
The lights are bright down in Nashville.
And all he wants to do is make it on that scene.
The lights are bright down in Nashville.
Where he’ll be a king.
He’ll reign supreme.
He steps up to the mic tall and proud.
All the people shout his name really loud.
He takes the stage like it’s his right.
Every time feels like opening night.
He’s got a beer, he’s got a guitar.
He looks back at his life and wonders how he made it this far.
He sang his life, he sang it well.
Now he has no more stories to tell.
There’s a boy masked as a man
who right now I just can’t name.
He’s been asked to make a living
with fake Id’s, to him life’s just a game.
And there’s a song I’m sure you’ve heard before
It’s about ringing freedom’s bell.
I remember we sang in harmony
Until the DJs damned it to hell.
And I’m tired and worn out
And I can’t fight your monopoly.
I’m not against your capitalist system
but I don’t think it cares too much for me.
So straighten up and don’t get sick
for in fear you’ll lose your job.
But there isn’t really any secret prizes
so don’t you dare turn that knob.
Make sure that you play it straight
Keep what you’ve got to stay ahead.
For they believe if you’re not top dollar
Then we’re better off if you’re dead.
And I’m tired and worn out
And I can’t fight your monopoly.
I’m not against your capitalist system
But I don’t think it cares too much for me.
I don’t want to bite the hand that feeds
but we all want a chance for pie.
And if we’re stuck in this endless sleep
then what’s the difference if we die?
I think if we were all Jesus Christ
We’d make sure the kids would learn.
We’d also cure their weakened hearts
Without asking how much they earn.
And I’m tired and worn out
And I can’t fight your monopoly.
I’m not against your capitalist system
but I don’t think it cares too much for me.
Chapter 6: “Bitches ain’t shit.” “I got hoes in every zip code. Shit, when I’m outta town I pay top dolla for nothin’ but the classiest of hoes. Don’t mean shit to me. These people in LA vote me in, give me cash, and then I can have whateva hoe I desire. You see, bitches ain’t shit. That’s why you gotta keep yo bitch in line. Take my hoe, for instance, she gotta stay by my side no matter what crazy shit I do. My motha fuckin’ homie stabbed his bitch after she kept running her mouth just to teach her a lesson. I let him stay in my posse to be in charge of women’s issues, yo. He’s the kinda playa that knows how to handle his bitch shit. Y’all feel me?” Below is an image of the senator from Louisiana Sen.
